John Collings

John Collings

John Collings grew up in Merseyside during the Merseybeat era in the early 1960s. He was roadie for ‘Joan & The Demons’ and heard the Beatles live at the original Cavern Club in Liverpool.

John’s interest in folk music started with the 1960s Liverpool group The Spinners and has developed since then.

He discovered Celtic folk and roots music after moving to Glasgow and has been a Friend of Celtic Connections for many years. John enjoys most types of music including folk, jazz and classical.  He is interested in history and enjoyed walking through Glasgow discovering facts about the places he sees.

John originally joined Celtic Music Radio as part of the team producing and presenting local news bulletins.  He now presents a weekly programme on Glasgow landmarks and places across Scotland.  John also talks about other events, both present and past, and plays music that relates to all of  these.   Contact him, john.collings@celticmusic.net or find him on Facebook

He has moved from Thursday to Wednesday for 2012
