John Joe MacNeil presents his weekly Gàidhlig programme Sona le Seonaidh (Happy with John) every Thursday from 7.00 to 9.00pm live from Studio 1 which includes a great mix of Celtic music, Gaelic chat and the occasional guests from far and wide.
 
He started working in media from an early age contributing to various Gàidhlig radio and television programmes for many companies including BBC Alba and MNE-TV. 
 
At the age of 18 he had his own Celtic music programme on Inverness Hospital Radio called Cànan nan Gaidheal (Voice of the Gaels).  Moving to Aberdeen to complete his Degree in Hospitality Management, John Joe presented a Celtic music request programme on Grampian Hospital Radio.
 
He moved home to the Isle of Barra and for three years worked at The Royal Bank of Scotland latterly as Branch Manager of the Lochboisdale Branch on the Isle of South Uist.
 
John Joe was then asked to work on a six months project as Accounts Manager with Sandray Shellfish Ltd on the Isle of Barra.
 
He is the longest serving presenter of Siar FM, formerly know as Barra and Vatersay Community Radio, an internet only audio service where he co-presents two of the main anchor shows – Ùpraid and Gàgail is Gàire.
 
John Joe moved to Glasgow in late August 2010 and is attending the University of Strathclyde, Jordanhill Campus doing a Postgraduate Diploma in Primary Education in Gàidhlig.
