Having played ‘all over the place’ including Paisley, Tomás also appeared on Danny Kyles ‘Heroes and Soft Targets’ CD. He has also played along side most of the Old Troubadours. Tomás is joined in the studio by Graham Flemming .

Mar 27, 2012

On this week’s Travels With My Auntie Liz on Tuesday 27 March from 8-10.00pm (repeated Wednesday 28 March 1.00-3.00pm) features Derroll Adams (1925 -2000) the American banjo player, painter, singer-songwriter and poet who lived in Antwerp for more than 30 years.

He left a legacy behind him that will be celebrated in music song and his peotry and paintings in“Derroll’s Dream” concert on Thursday 29 March 2012 in a beautiful old theatre in Antwerp “De Roma” will be present on 29 March 2012 as an orchestral arrangement based on Derroll Adams music. You will recognize his own songs, some traditionals and also a great song ‘Oregon’ written for him by his friend Tucker Zimmerman, song poet and composer. It is a project put together by Wiet Van De Leest (RUM), fiddler, composer, arranger and ”chef d’orchestre” who was inspired by Derroll songs and brought his dream to reality. Seven women singers of great talent and various backgrounds (from jazz to folk) are accompanied by a baroque string orchestra (De Rode Pomp). Most of the musicians had never heard of Derroll’s songs. Three old friends of Derroll are part of the band: Vera Coomans (voice), Maggie Holland (banjo and voice) and Roland Van Campenhout (guitar).

I will play some of his songs that I have loved for years – hopefully bringing them to a ‘new’ audience of listners . I wish I could be with Danny – Derrolls wife – and other pals who will be attending the concert on Thursday – hope to bring you some music from the event at a later date!
