‘Away From My Window’ – Iona Fyfe – Album of The Week 7 July 2018
Aberdeenshire folksinger and budding songwriter Iona Fyfe is one of Scotland’s finest young ballad singers who is deeply rooted in the singing traditions of her homeland in the North East of Scotland, while in recent years expanding her repertoire and musical influences from the rich tapestry of stunning young musicians based in and around Glasgow, to bring you this her first much ‘finally tuned; and much awaited debut CD! It is easy to see why she is much sought after on the music circuit as well as being the award winner and nominee along the way!
In this CD she brings together the traditions and tradition bearers of the past – taking it to the living traditions that are taking the music forward for the next generation to make their own mark upon!
Although she claims not to be a songwriter –this her first ‘attempt’ – ‘Banks of The Tigris’ – shows us that she has another string to her bow of which we would wish to hear more of in the future!.
Iona is also coming along to Celtic Music Radio to do a House Concert on Thursday 16 August 2018 7:30 – so come along and hear some tracs from the wonderful new CD and and other well placed songs – she will be accompanied by Luc McNally! – Book tickets Eventbrite
