Bruce is responsible for the technology behind the scenes at Celtic Music Radio.
Forget any preconceived ideas of vinyl and double-turntables, these days it's all done by computers, from the automated playout systems (where the P Squared Myriad system is used), to the encoders for the internet stream, and the studio to the link to feed the AM medium wave band transmitter.
His ‘day job’ is Network Manager within IT Services at the University of Strathclyde, where he is responsible for network infrastructure and services, IT security, and anything else that has wires coming out of it.
He is involved with a number of national working groups in the University networking world, including one which focuses on distribution of live media - radio, video, high-definition television and more over the internet.
A keen musician, he plays in a traditional ceilidh band, based in Ayrshire.
