Due to the severe storms in the west of Scotland this week when winds reached 97 mph in Glasgow, damaged has been caused to our medium wave transmission antenna which means we are on very much reduced power on 1530 AM/MW.

We will be on reduced power until weather conditions improve to effect a repair which is likely to be Saturday.  We apologise to regular listeners on 1530AM for the inconvenience this has caused.

For the time being, there’s always our stream here which is unaffected.

Alex Jenkins talks to David about his new CD and his music.

David is a Scottish-American singer-songwriter and folk musician based in Edinburgh.  Born to a Scottish father and an American mother he was brought up on both sides of the Atlantic.  His transatlantic roots can be clearly traced in is music, whether singing his own compositions or interpreting a traditional ballad or song by Robert Burns.

David’s songs tell stories about his and others’ lives, and are marked by a strong commitment to social justice and peace.

David’s new album of original songs, Journeyman, has just been released and was produced and recorded by Mattie Foulds in the Borders.

Journeyman features the following musicians: Steven Polwart (guitar), Kevin McGuire (bass), Kim Edgar (Rhodes piano), Adam Sutherland (fiddle), Su-a Lee (cello) and Mattie Foulds (percussion).

David will be playing solo in Glasgow on Thursday 29 September at Live at theStar Folk Club, St. Andrews in the Square, 1 St. Andrews Square, off Saltmarket, Glasgow.

CD Album of the Week is on Saturday at 12 noon and 12 midnight and Monday at 6.00pm.

This is due to some maintenance tests.

Apparently the trip went well with plenty of stops to let Gordon keep his caffeine levels up!

The broadcast between 12 noon and 6pm on St Patrick’s Day  LIVE from Denvir’s Hotel, Downpatrick was a huge success.

Gordon has also found a new addition to our studio equipment at Paddy’s Sleepy Orchard Guesthouse, Saul, Downpatrick – bringing our studio bang up to date….in 1900!

With support from Tourism Ireland and Down District Council there will be a great day of family entertainment featuring Irish dancing, traditional and folk music, storytelling and circus style entertainment.

The museum’s event is one of the highlights of St Patrick’s Day with a fun filled programme for all ages.

Celtic Music Radio presenters Gordon Hotchkiss and Alex Jenkins will be LIVE from Downpatrick.

So join in the fun of St Patrick’s Day from 12 noon until 6pm on Thursday 17 March here on Celtic Music Radio!

For the last few months now we have been running on reduced power using a reserve transmitter on 1530AM/MW in the Glasgow area.

You should find 1530 kHz AM reception has improved greatly and further improvements are planned in the coming weeks.

We would really like to hear back from you on how we’re sounding again on 1530 AM/MW.
