Jodie Marie guests on Thursday afternoon

Jodie Marie guests on Thursday afternoon

Nov 22, 2011

Welsh singer Jodie Marie will visit Celtic Music Radio on Thursday 24 November during the Homward Bound programme.

Raised in Narberth, Pembrokeshire, Wales, Jodie was isolated and disinterested in the pop charts. She was brought up on a diet of blues and Bonnie Raitt, leading her to a soulful and genuine sound.

Whilst the quality and substance of Jodie’s songs bring to mind greats such as Carole King, Joni Mitchell and Tim Buckley, her style is truly original and the emotional depth of her writing belies her mere 20 years of age.

‘On The Road’ will be Jodie’s first single on the classic Verve label. A sauntering, sun-kissed verse, gives little indication of the point at 55 seconds in when Jodie’s voice rips into the chorus – a gutsy, minor-key soul number – and in that instant something quite extraordinary happens as a new vocal talent lays down her marker with devastating effect.  Find out more when 20 year old Jodie is live in studio 1 at Celtic Music Radio on Thursday afternoon.

Homeward Bound, Thursday 24 November from 4.00pm.

In addition to Tom’s duet with Eddi Reader, the album contains a number of unique collaborations on several tracks including a duet with Pop Idol Winner Michelle McManus plus guest lead guitar from Scottish rugby legend John Beattie.

The release is on Scottish indie label, Edinburgh based The Music Kitchen who have scored andworked on two Scottish chart toppers the last few years and are hoping to make it a hat trick.

Label boss Gordon Campbell says : “Given Tom’s amazing musical ability combined with his high profile made it a no brainer when deciding to sign him. We are excited to be working with Tom and feel he has huge potential both here and overseas.”

In addition to releasing his long awaited debut album on Monday 17 October, Tom will be appearing as the special guest of legendary singer “Shakin’ Stevens” on the only Scottish date of a massive 30th UK and European tour at Glasgow’s ABC o2 on 29 November 2011.
