This has been an ordinary week. We managed to lose things so I thought of Matt McGinn and The Red Yo Yo. This will lead me to follow on with other children’s songs and songs about children.

Form this start I started thinking about the youth work in church and this led me to play a song by Steven Brown a minister from Fraserburgh where we will be visiting next month. Of course I’ll be playing songs about the sea and fishing and dreams. The only way to find out more is to listen at 8.00 on Thursday or to one of the repeats.

Join John Collings today, Friday at 2.00pm for another edition of his Week. Says John: “We had some brilliant sunshine last weekend and so I’ll play the title track from ‘Every Day is Sunshine’ which is a new CD by Glasgow singer-songwriter Jim Byrne. His new CD will be released on October 11.

I’ve also got a few more songs and tunes about the weather and other interesting things.”

Last weekend we had two bricklayers rebuilding our garden wall that was damaged by a car while we were on holiday. This made me think about music relating to building, bricklaying, stone masons and other trades I think it will be an interesting mix and I hope you all agree.

I’ve also noticed a couple of interesting things that happened in this week in history and I’ll include them and some suitable music.

Last weekend I was at the Lomond Folk festival, Balloch and I’ll play some songs from people I heard there including The Electrics and Jim Byrne as well as other people who performed there and also some new CDs I bought at the event writes John Collings.

I’ll be continuing the theme from last week and playing some songs and tunes that are linked to my holidays. I’ll also be playing lots of music written by, or performed by women as it is exactly 50 years since the world’s first woman prime minister was elected. You need to listen to find out more.
