This year’s St Mungo Festival takes place between Saturday 8 to Saturday 15 January 2011 and celebrates the life of St Kentigern – better known as St Mungo, patron saint of Glasgow.
This will be the city’s second official St Mungo Festival, which is honouring the Fife-born monk’s work to establish and expand the city of Glasgow around the sixth century through song, music and dance.
The festival takes the theme Mungo’s Bairns and explores what it means to be Glaswegian.
Incorporated in the festival this year are new and exciting events and exhibitions, including a performance of the Ballet of The Tree and the Bell at the newly renovated St Enoch Centre.
Also featuring this year is some of Glasgow’s most talented musicians, who’s music reflects the multi-cultural diversity of our cosmopolitan city.

Neilston and District Pipe Band & AKAYA West African DrummersThe Neilston pipers join Glasgow based drummers from Ghana to perform a unique collaboration of complex West African rhythms whilst the pipers play Melodies from Ghana and the Scottish tradition.
Four Provinces Ceilidh BandGlasgow historical links with Ireland are legendary. The ‘Four Provinces Band’, founded by the late great Jimmy McHugh, has been playing in Glasgow for over 50 years. Now led by Jimmy’s son Brendan they feature some of the very best Irish musician who have made this city their home.
