CMR Live from Sma Shot Day – Paisley – Sat 1st July 12-6 and recorded 6-9pm !

Celtic Music Radio is proud to announce that it will be coming live on 1 st July from 12- 6 pm & 6 -9 pm recorded

Part  of  the celebration of Sma Shot Day – for which Danny and friends got re-established along with a life long affinity with the ladies (and gents!) of Sma Shot Cottages  (some live accoustic singing from there too in the afternoon!)

Come and join us for this FREE  event – meet the artists – meet the CMR crew and be part of this brilliant festival. Also additional artist such as Local Poet and fried of Danny’s  Fred McNeil  will be dropping in !!!

12 – 12:45 Shelagh McKay Jones  
Traditional – Celtic – Folk – Roots – Americana Singer Songwriter
This talented singer songwriter from Greenock – Winner of Inverclyde’s Scottish Folk and Roots Festival Session 2014 and went on to get a Danny At Celtic Connections in 2015. Has been involved in many successful projects and partnerships over the years – with seven CDs under her belt is recording new material all the time released a CD with songs relating to the history of the people who came to live and work in Greenock in the late 1800 and 1900’s including some songs based on the poems written by Shelagh’s great –great grandfather Much sought after artist at local and national festivals.

1 -1:45 Davy Nicol  Web
Davy Nicol is  from Gourock singer-songwriter, whose self-penned acoustic style songs range from stories about living and working in Scotland to songs which also have a universal pop and country-tinged feel. This eclectic style borrows from folk, country, soul and pop/rock genres. Recently Davy released his new album and video projects to support his music. This new CD which includes  “Greenock Road”, a tribute to the shipbuilding heritage of Greenock, which won a newspaper songwriting competition. Which has been met with much critical acclaim. As well as his own headlining, Davy has supported various well known musicians including Justin Townes Earle, Tom Russell, Ricky Warwick and Martin Stephenson.Davy has also played in popular Inverclyde bands The Lazarenkos, The Pies and The Urban Folkers.

2: 2:45 Papa Shandy and The Dram
Based in Glasgow, Papa Shandy and the Drams were founded in 2012 and haven’t looked back since. As Scottish folk musicians, there is a very good reason why this 6 piece Glasgow band are popular all over the world.  The distinct, smoky voice of Kieran Sinclair heads up one of the fastest selling gigging and  function bands in Scotland today. Their set list is vast, covering anything from Mumford and Sons to AC/DC. With their unique folk and bluegrass style, Papa Shandy and the Drams are undeniably the best pop and folk band available  today

3-3:45  Lisa Kowalski  
Lisa is a young singer songwriter from Paisley has 3 years of performing behind her, from the smallest open mics to crowds of 1000s in sports stadiums.
She recorded her debut EP  this year, helped by a grant from Paisley 2021, and has been delighted by the response, with great reviews, tons of radio play and lots of new performance opportunities. Her original songs helped her win the Renfrewshire Live and Unsigned competition in May and she is looking forward to a live set for STV2 Live at Five on 3rd July. Lisa has been overwhelmed by the support she gets for her music, from everyone from St Mirren to local acclaimed musician James Grant, whose  song- writing workshop she took part in at The Spree last year, a which James told her she had a knack for songwriting!

4- 5pm The Skunnered via – Loud & Proud
The Skunnered grew out of Open Mic nights in East Renfrewshire, founded by Chas Cunningham (Bass, Songwriter) and Nick Ahrens (Harmonica, 12-string guitar). Andrew McMillan (Mandolin, Guitar) soon came along and the group solidified when Andy Lindsay (Percussion) joined. When Nick left, Paul Shepherd (Guitar) took his place. s and sometimes Nelgy Martin- Guitar




5 -5:45  Dopesickfly

Band Members Ant Thomaz, Chris Darling, Joe Djaelani, Wendy Rae, Calum Macrae

Shortlisted as one of the top ten bands in Scotland! Dopesickfly were only formed in the summer of 2015 and have already made waves across the UK music scene .  With influences of neo soul , roac,, hip-hop, acid jazz and just the right amount of funk. With and EP under their belt and three single release to critical acclaim. The were winners at The Danny Kyle Open Stage 2016 at The Spree and went on to collect a Danny this year at Celtic Connections

6-6:45 – Paisley Songwriters Guild  Via Loud & Proud
The P.S.G. aims to provide a platform for local songwriters by educating, inspiring, and assisting music creators and copyright owners; and to preserve and demonstrate the value of songs and musical creativity to the greater community as a source of culture, education, and quality of life.
The P.S.G. consists of a body of creative minds, including songwriters from all genres of music, professional and amateur


7pm – 8ish Iain Copeland’s Sma Shot Extravaganza

Iain Brings together some of Scotland’s best young talent from the tradition / jazz and contemporary scene.  Their unique sound will grab you by the throat and transfix you to the spot. With this unique blend of genres you know that you are listening to something very special + Josie  Duncan and Pablo Laufente

This ‘Celtic’ connection of Josie from the Isle of Lewis and Pablo from Spain evolved from CC 2016 bring two cultures together evolving into a very accomplished, stunning young duo bursting onto the folk and festival circuit!  Josie brings her beautiful voice, traditional, Gaelic and original song blending with Pablo’s sensitive and innovative guitar playing make this the most talked about duo on the scene.
