Mandulu & Hephzibah     – Glasgow – Listen Again Link
Sabrina Mandula & Erin Hephzibah
Contemporary Harmonic Female Folk Duo Mandulu and Hephzibah have been performing together for just over a year and are now establishing themselves in the Glasgow Music Scene. Over the past few years Hephzibah has played Burns Aflame in Alloway and Burns n’aw That at Rozelle. Their songs encompass a side including The Paisley Witch Trials .They are powerful and enchanting and display a maturity beyond their teenage years. Their harmonies are both, haunting and heart felt but their tales are told, not as laments but as tales of hope. They performed part of The Paisley Spree to Launch the Paisley 2021 Album’ their song Ballad of Christian Shaw is included.

 

Dreaming of White Horses –  Glasgow – Listen Again Link
Michael Butcher / Charlie Stewart / Chris Amer / Dan Brown / James Lindsay  / Graham Costello
Newly formed, Dreaming of White Horses is made up of musicians from both the trad and jazz scenes of Glasgow. The compositions aim to fuse the strong melodies of traditional music with improvisation and the harmonic language of contemporary-jazz for a fresh sound! Michael Butcher is the saxophonist from Mezcla, the African inspired fusion outfit that’s taking the Glasgow scene by Storm.Recent winner of the Young Scottish Trad Musician, Charlie Stewart is one of the most in demand fiddle players of the moment, a member of many bands including Dosca and Snuffbox.

 

 

Mattie Collins – Whemyss Bay  Listen Again Link
Mattie is a Scottish based singer songwriter and has been likened vocally to van Morrison, Rod Stewart and a young Bryan Adams to name but a few. He has been writing and performing original songs for over twenty years and has accumulated a large catalogue of  material. Early 2017 Mattie became a member of the Glasgow chapter of the Nashville songwriters association  where he found the encouragement to finally begin recording and releasing some of his music. With the release of his debut e.p Dragons Dreams & Life he has been receiving extensive UK radio play in November last year,  several of the songs made there first international outing and where played by New York radio station heat fm. Also several TV appearances.

 

The Shipping Forecast – Glasgow  Listen Again Link
Iain McWilliams / Kenny Little /Paul Hyland/ Kenny Anderson
The Shipping Forecast come together as a fusion of seasoned musicians, producing a mix of contemporary folk, alt-country and Americana, with a sprinkling of traditional tunes. Recent performances at the Star Folk Club, Partick Folk Club and Strathyre Music Festival. Independently and collectively they have shared the stage with an array of prominent artists within the folk scene including: Jenn Butterworth and Laura Beth Salter, Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Hass, Rab Noakes and The Battlefield Band. Recent performance at the Paisley Spree 2017.

 

Alexander Alexander –  Glasgow  Listen Again Link
Alexander Alexander has been writing since he first saw the birds in the sky. As of 2017 his songs, bubble-wrapped in a bedroom, are slowly being released kicking and screaming to the web and to the world. It’s soft sounds, quiet chords, sore throats and occasionally looped and loud.

Based in Glasgow, Alexander Alexander has his debut EP out and gigging ‘as often as possible before he forgets how to play’.
