Job Opportunity: Business Development Manager – Re Advertised 

Celtic Music Radio are looking to recruit an experienced Business Development Manager to develop advertising, sponsorship and other funding opportunities to contribute towards the running costs of the radio station.

£18,000 (one year, fixed term contract) 18.5 hours per week although some flexibility will be required

Job Description

The main role of the Business Development Manager is to search for new advertisers, sponsors and other income opportunities by networking, cold calling or other means of generating interest from potential clients. He/she must then plan appropriate approaches and pitches that will convince potential clients to do business with Celtic Music Radio 95FM (CMR).

He/she must develop a rapport with new clients, set targets for sales and sponsorship, and provide support that will continually improve the relationship. They are also required to grow and retain existing accounts by presenting new opportunities and services to clients.

Main Duties

New Business Development

  • Seek potential new clients and turn this into increased business.
  • Cold call as appropriate within the Glasgow area to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities.
  • Meet potential clients by growing and maintain networks.
  • Research and build relationships with new clients.
  • Set up meetings between client decision makers and CMR’s Board.
  • Plan approaches and pitches.
  • Participate in pricing advertising/services.
  • Seek other funding opportunities such as grants, etc.

Client Retention

  • Present new products and services and enhance existing relationships.
  • Arrange and participate in internal and external client debriefs.

Business Development Planning

  • Attend local industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends.
  • Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in sales.
  • Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop CMR’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.

Management and Research

  • Submit monthly progress reports to CMR”s Board and ensure data is accurate.
  • Ensure that data is accurately recorded in an appropriate manner.
  • Forecast sales/sponsorship/other funding targets.
  • Track and record activity on accounts and help to close deals to meet these targets.
  • Research and develop a thorough understanding of the company’s people and capabilities.
  • Understand the company’s goal and purpose so that will continual to enhance the company’s performance.

 

 

 

Person Specification

 

Skills, Knowledge and Competencies

Essential

  • Educated to HND(SCQF Level 8) in appropriate area
  • Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Experience of income generation and development of long term sustainable funding initiatives to secure financial return
  • Able to demonstrate strong commercial awareness
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of financial systems, and ability to analyse, interpret and communicate financial information effectively and accurately
  • Setting and managing financial budgets
  • Evidence of working in partnership with other stake holders and regulators

Desirable

  • Educated to degree level
  • Experience or interest in broadcasting
  • Recognised financial or business management qualifications
  • Experience of working in an environment involving grant funded projects
  • Experience of working in a Charity/third sector organisation
  • Experience of working with volunteers
