Studio Guest – Chris Sesar and Gill Halliday on Gavin Paterson 16th May 2-4 pm

Chris Sesar has been rapidly gaining recognition in the Scottish music scene for his genre defying repertoire, effortlessly blending Celtic folk and roots & country music with a brush of gypsy jazz.

“Chris Sesar’s songs paint the landscape of human relationships with gentle colours and delicate detail, sometimes bitter sweet, sometimes dark and with a comic twist.”

Since March 2016 Chris has been touring Scottish Venues with Angus based singer songwriter Gill Halliday.

Gill’s intuitive use of wind instruments adds a layer of depth and versatility to the performance whilst her powerful voice delivers songs with heartfelt honesty.

“I could have listened to Gill sing all night.” Sheena Wellington.

Individually, Chris and Gill are both brilliant vocal performers. Their harmonies, however, are nothing short of mesmerising.

As individual writers they have very different approaches and styles which, when fused together creates beautiful songs with themes ranging from love, heartbreak and loss, worries of parenthood and ageing. Their thoughtful, well observed lyrics capture the tragic as thoroughly as the humorous and describe the minutia of everyday life and the colourful complexity of humankind.

As dedicated supporters of the cancer charity, Chris and Gill have played several fundraising events over the last year with the proceeds going to this cause which is close to both their hearts.

Sesar & Halliday are busy working on an album of their original material which is due to be released in the Autumn.

They are playing Leith Folk Club 16 May 2017
