Studio Guest Stephen Wright – with Gavin Paterson Tues 1 May 2018 -2 -4pm

Joining Gavin in the studio to celebrate International Workers Day – May Day, 1st of May, will be event producer and musician Stephen Wright. Stephen is the guiding hand behind the “Fair Pley” production company and for many years has curated the Mayday Cabaret and associated events focused on Mayday in Glasgow. This year’s event is on 7th May at Òran Mór and features Arthur Johnstone, Rab Noakes, Maeve Mackinnon, Grace Petrie and many others.

Stephen has selected some of his favourite Worker’s Songs from artists including Pete Seeger, Billy Bragg, The Wakes, Bob Dylan and loads more!

The Great May Day Cabaret: A Night for Chris Bartter Monday 7th May, show starts 7.30pm at the Òran Mór

Featuring another fantastic line-up, the seventh annual Great May Cabaret includes a tribute to founder member Chris Bartter, whose untimely death last October robbed the trade union movement of one of its great campaigners and supporters of the arts.

Celebrating international workers’ day will be Leicester’s singer-songwriter and activist Grace Petrie; Scottish rapper, author of “Poverty Safari” and commentator Darren ‘Loki’ McGarvey; Fife’s own Rab Noakes, Gaelic songstress Maeve Mackinnon and folk legend Arthur Johnstone. Compered by Dave Anderson, with Fraser Speirs and Stephen Wright providing musical backing.

Speakers will include Richard Leonard MSP and a UNISON speaker.

Produced by Glasgow Friends of May Day and Fair Pley

Sponsored by UNISON Scotland
