Album of the Week – Andy M Stewart ‘Songs of Robert Burns’

Written by on February 7, 2026

This is a welcome re-release that features the work of Scotland’s national bard sung by one of Scotland’s finest traditional singers, Andy M. Stewart.

On this superb album that mixes the robust with the romantic, Andy is accompanied by three members of the seminal Scots band Capercaillie – Mánus Lunny, Donald Shaw and Charlie McKerron.

Originally released in 1989 it has been unavailable for many years but under the guidance of Andy’s son Donald, this timeless collection has been re-mastered, re-packaged and re-released for a worldwide audience.

Hugh Taylor will be speaking today with Andy’s life-long pal and former SIlly WIzard bandmate, Martin Hadden and Andy’s son Donald Stewart on the first Album of the Week Show of 2026.

ALBUM OF THE WEEK – Hugh Taylor in conversation with Martin Hadden and Donald Stewart – midday – Saturday, February 7, 2026 – at noon.
