SKELPT STAGING STATION FUND RAISER

Written by on October 10, 2025

The highly popular Scots folk trio Skelpt are staging a fund raiser for Celtic Music Radio in Glasgow on Wednesday, November 12.

It’s being held at Van Winkle Bourbon BBQ Grill directly opposite the Barrowland Ballroom and tickets are now on sale.

Skelpt – Andrew Gordon (vocals, guitar, bodhran); Euan Johnston (vocals bodhran) and Iain Anderson (fiddle, vocals) – got together in 2023 for this venture with the aim of creating an energetic set of music suitable for the biggest festivals and smallest clubs.

Andrew said: “We are very happy to do the fund raiser as the station has been a massive help to us in so many ways.

“We hope to get as many bums on seats as possible as a boost to support Celtic Music Radio as it continues to provide great music through a broad range of programmes every day.

“We’re really looking forward to this.”

Support at the gig comes from Martin Stephen Jones, a fine musician and one of our presenters.

The chair of the station’s board of directors, Alex Jenkins, praised the band for their offer.

“We’re hugely grateful to Skelpt for doing this,” said Alex. “They are such a talented trio so it promises to be a terrific night of live music.

“Any funds raised will undoubtedly help the station as we strive to maintain and improve our output for listeners.”

Each musician in Skelpt has over 30 years’ experience in performing and they play all over Scotland and Europe.

Their debut album Ersten – a former station Album of the Week – features eleven striking tracks with powerful vocals, foot stomping fiddle tunes with rhythmic accompaniment provided by guitar and bodhran.

It’s a pleasing, energetic take on trad folk, highlighting the songs they love singing and tunes they love playing.
