Album of the Week – Cheery Odin ‘Souters’

This deeply personal and celebratory album shines a spotlight on Souters, the nickname for people from Selkirk.

Loudon Temple – recording under the moniker Cheery Odin – was born there in 1948 and he’s joined on this quality collection by fellow Souter, Paul Tasker (Doghouse Roses) and special guest, actor John Nicol.

The songs materialised over a couple of years and relate to personal experiences, people Loudon’s met and places he has enjoyed.

He will be talking with Hugh Taylor on our latest Album of the Week Show about the making of the album and the stories behind the songs – and during the broadcast you will find out if famed drummer, Ginger Baker really did sup pints in the Queen’s Heid Bar.

Album of the Week Show – Loudon Temple in conversation with Hugh Taylor – Saturday – October 3, 2026 – at midday.
