Station Extends DAB Coverage Across Scotland

CELTIC MUSIC RADIO  is aiming to boost listening figures through the continued expansion of DAB – Digital Audio Broadcasting – services in Scotland.

South Lanarkshire is the volunteer-led station’s latest DAB target area and follows successful launches this year in North Ayrshire and West Renfrewshire.

The DAB coverage to communities across much of South Lanarkshire strengthens the station’s presence across west-central Scotland.

“The latest DAB expansion is a significant step forward, bringing the station to listeners across coastal, rural and urban communities,” said Alex Jenkins, chair of the station’s board of directors.

“Making DAB available in South Lanarkshire marks another important milestone for Celtic Music Radio.

“It brings us more listeners while creating additional opportunities for local businesses and organisations to reach engaged audiences through advertising and sponsorship.”

The station – with an overall audience of around 150,000 a month, including online listeners – first introduced DAB broadcasting in Glasgow in 2021 before successfully extending services three years later to Edinburgh. In 2024, they were introduced in Inverclyde and the Vale of Leven.

“Our ambition is to make Celtic Music Radio as widely available as possible, and we look forward to building on this success with further DAB developments,” said Alex.
