Album of the Week – The Poozies ‘Off The Hook’
Written by celtic music radio on October 23, 2026

Scottish trad-punk pioneers The Poozies’ brand new release is a glorious collection of instinctive interplay, carefully honed arrangements with their trademark sense of fun scattered throughout.
The entirely original material effortlessly balances high-energy instrumentals with a set of songs that reflect the band’s shared sensibility.
The Poozies are on tour now, celebrating 35 years of the band whose current line-up includes men for the very first time.
Alongside founding member Mary Macmaster (electro bass harp, vocals) and long-time members Eilidh Shaw (fiddle, vocals) and Sarah McFadyen (fiddle, banjo, electric and acoustic guitars, vocals), they welcome Michael Bryan (electric and acoustic guitars, vocals) and Donald Hay (drums and percussion, vocals) into the fold.
Mary said: “Right from the start, with its roots in the tradition, infused with elements of rock, it’s been a wee bit wild and very harmonious. Lately we have found a couple of cool men who fit right in and blast us up a level.”
