Mike Ritchie is presenter/producer of The Mike Ritchie On Sunday Show and now a TWO-time winner of the Best Radio Show 2020 and 2017 in a readers’ poll conducted by the influential music website Americana UK.
He loves music in the Americana, alt.country, roots, bluegrass, rock, singer/songwriter fields: so there is no shortage of great tracks for his show, which is a mix of music, news, reviews and him blethering (says Mike) about gigs, albums and artists in general.
Mike got the chance to broadcast after meeting several CMR volunteers at live music venues in and around the Glasgow area has been on the broadcast team for five years – he wishes he had started a whole lot earlier.
He has built up a strong following and is highly regarded locally, nationally and internationally for his insight as well as his informative and enthusiastic approach to music. He is a skilled interviewer and guests always enjoy their sessions with him.
Mike is happy to play music by unknown acts – many for the first time ever on the radio – and better-known ones. This mix gives his show a freshness allied to a contemporary atmosphere.
He is also very proud that his broadcast technology know-how has increased a great deal so the chances of him setting anything on fire in the studios have gone down substantially.
