Singer/songwriter Anne Gair Guests On Sparks & Burns

ANNE GAIR
Singer/songwriter, guitarist and dulcimer player, Anne Gair is a special guest on today’s edition of the Sparks & Burns show at 6 pm.
Her music is a heady mix of genres with nods to contemporary folk, country, blues and jazz, with strong vocal melody lines and a penchant for harmony and open tunings.
A new album is expected later this year following the release of her debut single ‘Steal Away’ and follow-ups, ‘Cigarettes and Smokescreens’ and ‘White Horses’.
Anne has toured throughout the UK both as a solo artist and lately with her ensemble, The Anne Gair Band, regularly performing to sold-out audiences in venues and theatres across the country.
She has a passion for writing in alternative open tunings, which draws a particular comparison to Joni Mitchell. This connection has led to the success of her dedicated sell out show – ‘Out of the Blue – A Celebration of Joni Mitchell – which has been touring theatres throughout Scotland.
Overall, her contributions to the indie folk genre make her an up-and-coming artist regarded as ‘one of Scotland’s most promising songwriters.’
When not on stage, you will usually find her in a field in Scotland in the middle of nowhere with her two retired horses.
She will be in our Braehead studios today to talk all things musical with John and Christine – and playing some tracks live as well.
