Album of the Week – Enda Reilly ‘Whisperings’

Written by on July 30, 2022

Dublin-born folk singer and songwriter Enda Reilly had a clear vision for his latest release – he wanted to deliver a “simple album of undeniably great songs” sung and recorded with guitar or acapella.

Many of Whisperings’ tracks are Irish and Scottish favourites with important connections for everyone across the Atlantic.

Heart-tugging songs such as Caledonia, Danny Boy and Go Lassie Go all feature here as Enda adds his own individual, much-admired style to these classics.

The album title was inspired by the line “Whispering over the sea…” in the song Come Back Paddy Reilly To Ballyjamesduff, the second of the ten tracks here.

Without a doubt, he carries his hometown of Dublin with him through his songs. He is a passionate artist who has performed on the streets, in the pubs, libraries, schools, theatres and festivals of Dublin and is now finding his feet in the USA having performed at Motor City, Milwaukee and Pittsburgh Irish Fests 2021.

• Album of the Week Show – Whisperings by Enda Reilly, who will be in conversation with Ian Oliphant, Saturday, July 30 at noon.
