Eabhal To Guest On The Bothy Society
Written by celtic music radio on May 20, 2022
Eabhal, one of the country’s most talked-about young bands, will be guests on The Bothy Society this weekend – Saturday, May 21, from 8 pm.
They will be chatting about their highly anticipated second album, ‘Aisling,’ their musical influences, and new tracks will feature on the playlist.
Eabhal formed as a band while all five members were based on the Hebridean island of Uist, and they have been nominated for a whole host of Trad Music Awards.
The band – Megan MacDonald (accordion); Hamish Hepburn (pipes, whistles, flute); Kaitlin Ross (vocals); Nicky Kirk (guitar) and Jamie MacDonald (fiddle) perform traditional songs alongside contemporary and self-penned tunes while drawing on other musical cultures to create exhilarating tracks.
Aisling – the Gaelic word for dream – was funded by Creative Scotland with the band recording at Gloworm Studios with producer Calum MacCrimmon of Breabach and Ross Saunders of Mànran.
To celebrate its release, the band are running a geocaching campaign to get people out to see the places that inspired them and influenced the songs. It’s a modern form of treasure hunting with the band hiding boxes across Scotland and Northern England with treasure for people to find.
They are announcing details of the hunt on their social media and website around the album’s release on May 20. They will feature locations from Assynt to Allendale and have some hidden augmented reality content for successful orienteers.
