Album of the Week – Mairi Morrison, Alasdair Roberts & Pete Johnston ‘Remembered In Exile – Songs And Ballads From Nova Scotia’

This marvellous collection features a quality collaboration involving Màiri Morrison, Alasdair Roberts and Canadian bassist/musical arranger Pete Johnston.

They have set their musical sights on traditional songs with Scottish roots collected in Canada’s maritime provinces by folklorist Helen Creighton (1899-1989).

Recorded in Nova Scotia these far-travelled Scots ballads and Gaelic lyrical songs are delivered with poignancy and playfulness, keeping the gravity of exile ever alive in their hearts.
