Station presenter, John Joe MacNeil has struck gold at this year’s Royal National Mod in Inverness.
Awarded the prestigious An Comunn Gàidhealach Gold Medal, John Joe said:
“I’m really delighted, I’ve been working on my songs for a long time so it’s lovely to be able to be back singing on a stage.
“It was a bit nerve racking and a bit daunting to be honest because this is the first time since Covid and since lockdown.”
John Joe added: “This was my second year in the Gold Medal final, having competed in 2017 when I won the Traditional Medal.”
Chair of Celtic Music Radio’s board of directors, Alex Jenkins, said: “All of us at the station send our congratulations to John Joe on his marvellous achievement. We are so proud of him.”
James Graham, Chief Executive Officer of An Comunn Gàidhealach, said: “The talent on show was outstanding. It was a delight to see them return and to see the standard to be so high – I would like to congratulate the winners who all sang beautifully.”
