Canadian (Nova Scotia) folk duo Cassie and Maggie are welcome guests on the Lunchtime Selection’s Wednesday edition this week (July 9) with Ian Oliphant.
The sisters are in Scotland to play at the Tiree Folk Festival, Eden Court in Inverness and HebCelt.
They will be talking about their new conceptual album, Gold and Coal, which explores duality – between past and present, darkness and light, coal and gold – through a tapestry of original and traditional songs arranged with artistic sensitivity and fearless innovation.
“We see tradition as a living, breathing thing,” they say.
“This album is about honouring what came before us, while daring to challenge and reshape it with our own voices.”
