This dynamic debut album confidently celebrates the cultural interchange between Scotland and Scandinavia with traditional tunes and modern compositions.

Tern, a five-piece band, explore the connections between the music of their homelands, while challenging listeners and inviting audiences to an exciting, cross-cultural journey, deeply rooted in a thrilling Nordic soundscape.

All the music was selected and arranged collaboratively and showcases clearly the individuality of all five members in a musical setting that shifts focus between tone and texture, contemplative moods and bursts of energy.

Tern – Rose Logan (fiddle); Kristina Leesik (fiddle); Lea Søndergaard Larsen (bodhran); Miguel Girão (guitar) and Amy Laurenson (piano) – fully acknowledge the importance of traditional arts in the times we live in and the times yet to come.

They will discuss their work on our Album of the Week Show today at midday, hosted by Auntie Liz Clark.

• ALBUM OF THE WEEK SHOW – Tern in conversation with Liz Clark, aka Auntie Liz – midday – Saturday, May 24, 2025.
