Written by celtic music radio on June 4, 2022
Four-time World Champion piper Kyle Warren’s stirring new album, Relentless, is an exciting and mostly up-tempo collection.
Produced by Stevie Lawrence, who plays various instruments and composed and played guitar on solo track, A Leap in The Dark, the stirring offering features a host of guest musicians – Jack Smedley (of Rura, on fiddle); Adam Brown (guitar); Craig Muirhead (piano); James Lindsay (bass); Scott MacK (percussion); Leon Thorne (saxophone); David Riddell (trumpet); Scott Wood (keyboards) and Glen Bardwell (didgeridoo.)
The award-winning Kyle plays bagpipes and composed most of the tunes with Allan Tall narrating The Pipers In The Stand and Mhairi Marwick adding speech on the opening track Press Play. Scott Wood at Oak Ridge Studios in Glasgow recorded, mixed and mastered it all.
Kyle recently returned to Scotland after spending five years in Australia, teaching bagpipes at the prestigious Scotch College in Melbourne and leading the Grade 2 Australian Champions, Hawthorn Pipe Band as pipe major.
Before emigrating, Kyle was a member of the Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band, winning seventeen of twenty titles in four years (2011 to 2014) including a history-making double “Grand Slam.”
He was also a full-time member of The Red Hot Chilli Pipers, touring worldwide and joining the famous “bag rock” band after graduating with a First Class Honours degree in Scottish Music (Piping) from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
Highlights in Kyle’s piping career include releasing his debut album Wanted and a book of music, Tunez and recording pipes on the Disney Pixar Oscar-winning movie Brave.
Since returning from Australia, he is back playing with Field Marshal Montgomery, rocking with The Red Hot Chilli Pipers and has released his second collection of bagpipe music titled Eat Sleep Pipe Repeat.
