Colm O’Sullivan talks with Ian Oliphant
Written by celtic music radio on October 22, 2025
I first started playing piano at the age of 10 but stopped when I was 13. I then picked it up again when I was 17 when I figured I could sing and play music I heard on the radio.
It was in 2023 when I knew music was my calling. I had to opportunity to sing with Tom Odell at a festival for 20,000 people. This was my first ever time playing to a crowd.
After I went back to Glasgow with my new confidence and started playing in piano bars and pubs, and focusing on writing my own music. I was lucky enough to be asked by Glen Hansard to play for him in Newcastle after meeting outside his Glasgow gig.
The world has been screaming at me to pursue music and I could not ignore it any longer.
I started recorded my own music and now in 24/10/25, I am releasing my debut song ‘Sunrise’ which is all about hope and finding light in the dark times. I am opening up for Tom Speight in Glasgow on his UK tour 30/10/25 and have other gigs planned later in the year.
